Why change?

The “General Binding Rules” were introduced by the government in 2015 because poorly treated septic tank effluent is polluting rivers, streams, land and groundwater.

Starting from January 2020, the law mandates some homeowners who use septic tanks to upgrade their systems to a treatment plant in order to effectively clean wastewater before it is released into the ground or water bodies. If you are uncertain whether your septic system requires upgrading, we have provided a Homeowner System Checker tool that is quick, easy, and free to use. This tool can be found in the “What do I need?” section of our website.

If you have any further questions or would like to discuss your septic system in more detail, feel free to send us an enquiry through our website or simply give us a call. We will be more than happy to assist you.

Additionally, for a broader understanding of the subject, you can access the General Binding Rules document and read related news in our News section on our website.
